When CBeebies launched their own mascot (I think they are kind of a mascot?) that looked like blobs of wobbly yellow jelly, we fell in love with it. They are so cute and when they wobbles, I (I'm not sure how the kids felt) secretly felt like wobbling along with them too! I did take a mental note to keep an eye on the merchandise release, which I thought would be the squishy pillow the presenters were cuddling, but I waited and waited and then it was forgotten.
Apparently they are called Bugbies, and when I received an email about an opportunity to review one of CBeebies Sweet Dreams with Squidge, my desire to own one has been relighted! Of course, I'm sure at least one, if not both, of my child will love it as much as I do, so I have the perfect reason to review it (It's not for me! Honest!).
CBeebies Sweet Dreams with Squidge (rrp £19.99) is an extremely soft cuddly toy that measures approximately 9.5 inches tall, is suitable for children aged 10 months+ and comes with 3 AAA batteries. When the stars on the bottom right of Squidge is pressed, it will play CBeebies' bed time song (The Time has Come, to Say Good Night...) and glows softly in different colours. He will stop when being pressed again while playing. There is an on/ off switch on the battery pack located at the back of Squidge as well.
When Abby saw Squidge she sounded interested, but then claimed that she's too old for Squidge. Fair enough. Clay's reaction was completely different and he's claimed Squidge his immediately, and would press the stars to listen to the song and watch the changing lights over and over again. He did relate Squidge to Christmas because of the lights, which I think gives the same soothing effect (I'm actually looking forward to putting up our Christmas tree!).
You can see Squidge in action in the above video. He is very Christmassy isn't he! I think he'll be perfect if there is a volume setting (normal and low) as he can be a bit loud (he woke hubby up in the middle of the night when he accidentally pressed Squidge haha). Other than that he's a softy that both me and Clay loves (he won't let me have Squidge!).
