John Adams Toys, Zombie Magic, Children Magic Tricks

Although Halloween is over, this John Adams's Zombie Magic kit will still make a great Christmas gift! We had a great laugh at the wriggly maggots and yucky brains, but Zombie Magic doesn't just make us go "euw!". The magic tricks included are fairly good too!

John Adams Zombie Magic (RRP £19.99, suitable for 7+) comes with:

a set of small plastic swords stored in a box
a leg
a bone
a specimen jar
a brain specimen

a pair of swords
deck of cards
instruction leaflets

and downloadable "How To" video guide.

John Adams Toys, Zombie Magic, Children Magic Tricks

Me and Abby had a laugh trying out the magic tricks. Some are easy, like the specimen jar, where you grow a brain specimen back onto the zombie's head, and the coffin to reveal a maggot. Some require practising to perfect the trick, like the zombie head being stabbed by swords, but the brain (coin) isn't damaged; and magic away a maggot from your hand.

Others are a bit more complicated, like the plant pot and maggots trick, which you can learn from their downloadable "How to" guide. They are all very amusing though!

We have been taking turn to do a trick and let the other guess how it worked. It was hilarious because we failed so miserably and kept revealing things that should be kept hidden! We definitely need more practises!

We are happy with the quality of the pieces inside, and although they are creepy, the tricks are fantastic and quite cool indeed. Once mastered, you can do some serious entertainment with them!

Easiest trick: Maggot in the Coffin
Favourite Trick: Zombie brain being stabbed by swords

John Adams - Gross Practical Jokes

gross jokes, kids pranks, gross practical jokes

I was never into weird things like this John Adam's Gross Practical Jokes when I was a kid, but I must say that it's quite funny (it's hilarious) to trick the kids, or watch them trick each other (just don't do it on me haha).

If you have a cheeky one at home, want to train their humour, or you want to cause trouble yourself (ahh, parents can be pretty devious too, and the occasional pay back time is required to make us emotionally more balanced), this is a great kit to go for.

John Adams' Gross Practical Jokes (RRP £14.99, suitable for 7+) comes with:

(fake, of course)
poo
urine spill
cockroach
fly
vomit patch
squirted toothpaste
specimen jar
snot slime
poo filled toilet farter (it looks like someone had a diarrhea...)
eyeball squirter
toilet squirter
sticker sheet
instructions with extra gross practical jokes

gross jokes, kids pranks, gross practical jokes
Left: Cracked Mirror!!                         Right: Me "Can we leave it in the packet?!"

gross jokes, kids pranks, gross practical jokes
Abby shoved the urine spill under Clay:"Mummy! Clay peed on the sofa!!!"  ...
The most popular prank item from the box is the urine spill. It can be quite convincing, especially if you just woke up for a morning wee, and when a tiny bit is showing under someone's body! We also found the cockroach quite realistic. Every time we walked passed it (Clay decided to leave it on the floor *sigh*), we paused to look while cringing slightly. I had to eventually move it away!

I'm not mentally prepared to open the packet of diarrhea-like poo yet, even though I know that it's most likely not runny if it can make a farting noise. But all I can think of is diarrhea. I am certain it will drive someone crazy!

I like how the kit works with stickers to make things even more realistic (like using the poo smear sticker on a real toilet roll tissue!), and they also teach you how to make edible poo and vomit *covers mouth*.

If you are open to pranks and add some fun to your life, definitely get this kit for your child. If you want to play a joke on other adults, then buy it for their kids!

By the way, have I show you pictures of our trip to the Toilet Restaurant in Taiwan?

Healthy Eating and Christmas is Coming!

$

Since January, I've been trying to change my lifestyle as I wanted to slim down again. We are spoiled with information on the Internet nowadays, and I've gathered quite a bit of information about what is healthy and good to eat for me to reach my goal.

I then used the information I learned, and adapt it to what I think is a reasonable lifestyle change, without taking the fun of food and life away. I started drinking lots of water (which is much easier to do in the hotter days), having porridge and cereals for breakfast, went for brown bread than white, and most importantly, minimised snacking on naughty food.

But then I joined GymCube, and my personal trainer asked me: "What is healthy eating?". After our discussion, I think the basic theory is:

"A balanced diet that makes you feel energised throughout the day, and can make you physically and emotionally happy, is healthy eating."

Although it sounded like a whole new concept (so junk food isn't junk food?!), but if you break it down, you can understand why they are classed as junk food (they make you unwell after), when others are classed as healthy food (they give you real energy).

As what works for others doesn't mean will work for me, I'm now learning from scratch what my "healthy food" is. I know that I don't have to go for wholemeal bread anymore, for example, because I'm not gluten intolerant, and it gives me the positive energy I need.

So far, this new way of healthy eating isn't that difficult, because the only bad eating I did was snacking on chocolates, sweets and crisps (emotional eating. Must combat that!). Without them, our main meals aren't that bad at all.

I did however struggled with finding ideas for protein, especially cheaper alternatives to lean meat. So articles like this 5 Healthy Food that will Actually Save You Money can be quite helpful (I do need some inspiration from somewhere), especially during this time of the year. Out of the 5 items, at least 3 of them are packed with protein, and I used 2 of them before too (forgotten!).

Did I tell you that my personal trainer is expecting me to gain weight during December? At least he's being realistic and didn't expect me to stay good while my family and friends stuff their faces! So while I work hard now to stay good, I'm also finding ways to drop my food budget a bit more, so that we can use the extra to spend on Christmas. So, cheaper alternatives, and maybe some online deals and vouchers like these food ones should do. Hopefully I won't pile on everything again and make January too painful!

Largest LEGO Store Opening Today in London!

Sooo. I went to the Largest LEGO store's preview last night in London and Oh My God! It is amazing! It was unfortunate that the kids couldn't make it (still in school when I took the train) but I certainly had fun exploring! Without talking too much, let me show you some pictures (click to enlarge)!

Amazing London Wall Art!

Selfie Spots - Lester the Mascot, Front door Arc, light up London Underground map, and London Underground!

Wow right! It seriously is awesome! I think it's definitely a landmark you must visit when you visit London. It is the largest in the world after all, and just seeing this morning's queue for the 12pm opening says it all!

The London LEGO store covers 2 stories, is in an L shape with a good amount of space for you to walk around, and has tills on both floors. It contains the largest LEGO constructed Big Ben that actually chimes, and the details are amazing! Do take your time as there is a LOT to see (914 sqm, containing over 30,000,000 bricks!) so it can be a bit overwhelming (I wanted to go everywhere at once!). You can take selfies with all the amazing giant LEGO constructions while you shop, and even have your photo made into a LEGO mosaic kit upstairs (see below)!

LEGO Store London, Largest LEGO Store in the world, London Landmark for Kids

There is quite a bit of exclusives to the London LEGO store, including this LEGO Architect London kit (RRP £44.99, based on my memory), which according to the very friendly Architect designer (I'm so sorry I never got your name!) who came all the way from LEGO Headquarter, is made out of their usual schedule so that it can be released in time for the London store opening! He was pretty cool by the way and did a signing on the spot!

The LEGO Mosaic Maker, as mentioned above, is the first one released (might launch in other stores, I'm not too sure). All you have to do is buy a Mosaic Maker card, slot it into the machine and get your photo taken. It will then print a large mosaic print of you on a mat, and you'll get a full mosaic kit to go with it, so you can build your own photo! It is really cool, and I'm not going to hide that I was well jealous of those who won the LEGO Mosaic Kit last night (everyone was a winner though)!

Also exclusive to the London LEGO store is the LEGO LEGO Store kit, which you'll get for free if you spend over £125 (again, based on my memory. It's not been very good lately, but it's around there)! I really would have gotten it if I haven't already bought Clay's LEGO Christmas present! I did buy something last night though, it's very hard not to, and got something else as a gift instead (see below).

LEGO Store London, Largest LEGO Store in the world, London Landmark for Kids

Other things worth mentioning as well is:

- the awesome lift inside the store, so it's buggy and disabled friendly! I wouldn't mind taking a ride in there myself...

- demonstrations during the week days (look out for store announcements regarding dates and times), which is currently a Christmas Tree that the kids (and adults) can take home after building!

- the digital screen where you can see some of the LEGO kits come to live if you put it in front of the screen

- If you are a tourist, they offer hotel delivery so you can shop till you drop without carrying them around London!

LEGO Store London, Largest LEGO Store in the world, London Landmark for Kids

LEGO Store London, Largest LEGO Store in the world, London Landmark for Kids

It's near Christmas time and you can find a great selection of LEGO Christmas kits in store! If you spend over £25, you'll get a free and very smart LEGO Christmas Toy Soldier Ornament! There are also the new elves and Santa kits, Christmas advent calendars that are ever so popular, and the LEGO Christmas train set! You can still buy the LEGO Santa's Workshop as well, which is my favourite LEGO Creator set I own!

LEGO Store London, Largest LEGO Store in the world, London Landmark for Kids

Like other LEGO stores, there is a lot of displays in the shop. We found out last time in the Manchester store that LEGO doesn't just display fully built kits, they will also display something built by experts that are not for sale! So next time you visit a LEGO store, do take a look at the displays and you might find something really cool, and get inspired!

LEGO Store London, Largest LEGO Store in the world, London Landmark for Kids

LEGO Store London, Largest LEGO Store in the world, London Landmark for Kids

I'm so glad that I went to the press event last night, it was truly impressive! All the staff I spoke to are really friendly, and you can tell that each of them has a skill to bring to the London team. Majority of the languages are covered, so it's very tourist friendly, there are staff with previous experience from other stores as well, and they all had training and practises, so you can expect a very welcoming and fun time in the store. London, you are so lucky!

Also worth mentioning, is that after your opening-week/ Christmas shopping, you'll get a special sticker with your receipt! Bring that receipt and sticker back between 11th December 2016 to 15th January 2017 to get a free 2017 LEGO wall calendar (I'm not sure if purchases is required, do check the T&C with the staff)! I need to go back!

So I did a small shopping, and hid away the extra Christmas present. I bought the LEGO Elves Emily Jones & Baby Wind Dragon (RRP £8.99) for myself, because I love the new dragon range, and it's one of the £8.99 LEGO set that I think is really worth buying (if you love LEGO Elves of course)! I also bought the LEGO Creator London Bus, because I think the kids will enjoy the bus a bit more than the LEGO Architect London. The rest are from our goodie bag (The LEGO Gingerbread house was the gift I received, thank you LEGO!)!

I had an awesome time last night, and I hope those who has queued for so long today will find the wait worthwhile too (I'm sure it does!) Have fun everyone!

We were given an opportunity to review Interplay's Fuzzikins - Cottontail Cottage, which I thought will be perfect for Clay (5) to play, but even Abby (now 8) loves it too! We especially love the pop-up playhouse book and the cute fluffy bunnies. Read on for more details.

Clay put his name on the back of his bunny like Andy did in Toy Story!
Children can use the felt tip pens to colour in their fluffy bunnies. There are 4 bunny pictures inside the box the children can use to practise before colouring the actual bunnies, which is really helpful for younger children.

There are 2 sticker sheets included as well that can also be coloured-in with felt tip pens, and the kids can then use them to decorate the pop-up playhouse book.

The pop-up playhouse book is really pretty with lots of details. Initially I thought that it's only a pop-up book where things pops up when you flip through the pages. To our surprise, the book opens up completely in a circle and can stand up to form a full playhouse for the bunnies! Even Abby found that very clever. Children might need a parent's help to attach the gate, but it really completes the whole pop-up house.

Both Abby and Clay really like the bunnies and the playhouse, especially because the bunnies are actually fluffy, and the playhouse opens up completely. I think it's a great craft kit with continuous play after. It'll make a lovely Christmas present!

Aldi Christmas Lights

After writing up the Christmas Gift Guide, I'm a bit confused and have been thinking that it's December now! I really want to set up my Christmas tree and decorations, but hubby won't go into the loft to get them for me (I'm absolutely useless when it comes to climbing the loft ladder...)! Luckily, Aldi, like they've heard my plea, and sent me a few of their gorgeous Christmas lights, so I can feel Christmassy before I get to the rest of the Christmas decorations!

Aren't they beautiful?! We were sent:

Red Ribbon Parcels (£14.99, plug-in LED lights)
Plain Light Up Globe (£7.99, other styles available; batteries operated LED lights)
White Christmas Wooden House (£9.99, batteries operated white LED lights)

and they are all available in stores now.

The Red Ribbon Parcels lights comes in a set of 3 and are connected together by the light cable. They are absolutely stunning, can be put next to other Christmas decorations, but will look fantastic on their own as well!

The ribbon decoration on the top are detachable to make packing them away easy without ruining any of them. They also come in white or gold ribbon.

Can you see that the White Christmas Wooden House is dusted with "snow"? It's so pretty! The LED lights for this one is white and is very bright! It also come unpainted (with "snow" on top), and you can put a few of them together to make a Christmas light up village!

Aldi Christmas Lights, Christmas Lights 2016, Festive

The Light Up Dome is my favourite though as I can keep it on my desk all year round! It will also make a gorgeous prop for pictures!

If you prefer it to have more of a Christmas theme, they also come with acorns or pine tree and snow inside.

Overall I'm really happy with Aldi's Christmas Lights! There are a lot more in their range and they all look so pretty! I can't wait to have more decorations around the house, but these have quinched my thirst for now.

Stag Bakeries

We were introduced to Stag Bakeries at Blog On MSI 2016 Winter event, and their food are really yummy! My favourite is their fruit cake, and I don't even like fruit cakes! I'd recommend them though, which you can find in M&S. My second favourite from them is their Seaweed Water Biscuits, which is also the kids favourite!

Stag Bakeries are really kind and has sent us more of their yummy food to try and review, which are their:

Seaweed Oatcakes
Seaweed Water Biscuits (to compare)
Cheese Straws with Smoked Dunlop

Stag Bakeries, great taste awarded, seaweed biscuits

Stag Bakeries, great taste awarded, seaweed biscuits

I think because we love Seaweed so much, Stag Bakeries' Seaweed Water Biscuits and Oatcakes are our firm favourite here! The water biscuit especially disappeared in no time. We can definitely taste more of the seaweed from the water biscuits than the oatcakes, no wonder they have won great taste award!

We have tried spreading cream cheese on the water biscuit, but decided that they are best eaten on their own. The kids however, love putting cream cheese on the oatcakes!

The cheese straws are really delicious as well, but I think because the kids are too caught up with eating the seaweed biscuits and oatcakes, they have neglected the cheese straws! We love it and its slight smoky flavour.

As mentioned above, you can buy Stag Bakeries' delicious goodies from Marks & Spencer. You can also check here for other stockists.

Interplay FabLab: Style Lab

As soon as I saw Style Lab from Interplay's FabLab range, I knew that it'll be a popular kit (it appeared to be one of their best sellers!), whether it's for a sleepover or birthday party, or even just a quiet mother and daughter fun time! It has 3 makeover activities in just one kit!

Glitter Tattoo, Hair Dye, Nail Art

Glitter Tattoo, Hair Dye, Nail Art

Interplay FabLab Style Lab (RRP £19.99, suitable for age 8+) comes with:

5 pots of Glitter
a Glitter Tattoo BodyArt Glue
50 Tattoo Templates in 25 different styles
2 Brushes

4 Hair Shadows
a Hair Clip
a pair of Lab Gloves

Nail Sequins
7 Solvent Free Nail Varnishes
a Emery Board
a Foam Toe Separator
Nail Art Brush

16 pages Instruction booklet

Glitter Tattoo, Hair Dye, Nail Art

We love it that you get 2 of each Glitter Tattoo templates, so that you can either do your favourite design twice, or you can share one with your BFF! It also gives you a second chance to do a design if you couldn't get it right the first time.

It is recommended to clean the skin where you will be applying the glitter tattoo, and I would recommend that as well. We didn't do it and the template didn't stick very well. So clean before you do this!

The glitter is really sparkly! We love how you can mix colours to make a gradient effect. It's a shame that we didn't do the first one right so I couldn't show you the blue, green and purple design we had on Abby's arm!

The instructions on the booklet is very clear, make sure you follow the tips to make a lasting glitter tattoo.

Glitter Tattoo, Hair Dye, Nail Art

I really like the Nail Art kit in this box as well, there is plenty of colours to choose from, and no alcohol so they are perfect for kids! An emery board to help you tidy up the nails first, a really small brush for nail art, and toe separator if you decided to do your toes too, it really has everything!

Also, Abby found it really fun to peel the paint off her nails (it comes off like a piece of vinyl or dried-glue)! There is no need for nail varnish remover which is harsh for kids, and it doesn't wash off like others so she can keep it for longer!

Glitter Tattoo, Hair Dye, Nail Art

Glitter Tattoo, Hair Dye, Nail Art

Abby loved the Hair Shadow most! She kept saying: "I have blue hair! Oh My God I have blue hair! Please let me go to school like this!" Nope.

It's very straight forward to highlight hair with the hair shadows, simply rub strands of hair on the creamy shadow a bit at a time to get the intensity you want. You can also mix 2 colours together! Abby is featuring blue and purple, although we could have done with putting a bit more purple on (you can kind of see it more on the picture on the left).

Do note that the gloves provided fits children hands only, so if you want to help your child, you might want to get your own gloves (it might stain skin).

Again, the hair shadow can be easily washed off with shampoo and warm water, although Abby was imagining that her hair still had some blue in it haha.

We will be having a really fun Christmas with this kit! And if you prefer one activity over another, Interplay also sell Glitter Tattoo, Nail Art and Hair Lights separately (RRP £9.99 each). I think Style Lab is definitely more value for money though!

Clement Faugier Chestnut Spread for Raymond Blanc's Buche de Noel

I've wanted to make Raymond Blanc's Buche de Noel last year, but it was so hectic that I didn't at the end. This year however, because of a review opportunity for Clement Faugier's Chestnut Spread, I finally get to make his Buche de Noel (a simplified version), and it was such a delight that it was devoured in no time!

Clement Faugier Chestnut Spread, Chestnut Cake, Buche de Noel

Clement Faugier Chestnut Spread, Chestnut Cake, Buche de Noel

Raymond Blanc included a Chestnut Buttercream recipe for his Buche de Noel, but because the Clement Faugier's Chestnut Spread is so delicious (you can spread it on a toast or sandwhich, it's really yummy!), I think it'll be perfect for the Buche de Noel, so I mixed it with whipped cream to make the filling.

Clement Faugier Chestnut Spread, Chestnut Cake, Buche de Noel

I'm so glad that I made this Chestnut Yule Log Cake! The cake itself is really light and fluffy, because it contains minimum amount of flour, and no raising agent either (it's all about the eggs!). The lightly whipped cream added a really dreamy texture to the whole cake, making it really easy (dangerously easy!) to eat. I also bought ready boiled chestnuts from Costco, which doesn't contain anything inside apart from peeled and boiled chestnuts! They aren't candied so doesn't keep well, but I think candied chestnuts would have overpowered the flavour in this lighter version.

We made 2 Buche de Noels out of Raymond Blanc's recipe, and decided to share the other one with our neighbour (we have a whole Christmas binge eating period on the way so it's better to share haha). We hope they like it too!

I'm so glad to have discovered Clement Faugier's Chestnut Spread! And you can eat it on its own as a spread, or mix it with butter or cream to make a filling for cakes. It's safe to say that I'll definitely buy it again!

Clement Faugier's Chestnut Spread is available in Waitrose and Sainsbury's.

Spy Gear Spy Go Action Camera

Abby has been wanting a camera for a while, but we are always scared of her dropping or scratching it. When I heard that Spinmaster are looking for people to review their Spy Gear Spy Go Action Camera, we volunteered as I was sure both the kids will like it.

Spy Gear Spy Go Action Camera, spy camera for kids, children camera

Spy Gear Spy Go Action Camera, spy camera for kids, children camera

Spy Gear Spy Go Action Camera, spy camera for kids, children camera

The Spy Gear Spy Go Action Camera (£39.99, suitable for age 6+) comes with the action camera, USB cable, clip mount and headband that holds the action camera, 3 spare attachment pieces to attach the clip mount and headband onto to camera, and an instruction leaflet. The camera already came with a chargeable battery, so you just need to charge it up using the USB cable and the Spy Gear Spy Go Action Camera will be ready to use.

The Action Camera has 3 modes - single frame capture, burst mode capture and video capture. I think, because it's part of a Spy Gear, it's not obvious with how to use the camera, so reading the instructions will be necessary to operate the camera.

The single frame capture button also acts as the camera's on/ off button. Once turned on, the kids are ready to go. They can take up to 15 minutes of VGA videos and up to 1500 still images on the Action Camera.

Spy Gear Spy Go Action Camera, spy camera for kids, children camera

We all love the idea of having a light weight camera that the kids can use without us needing to worry about them breaking it. The kids love running around with it and pretend to be action heroes while looking out for crimes.

On a day with good lighting and the kids not running around with the camera, the picture and video quality were quite decent for a £39.99 camera. We love the burst picture mode as it took some really funny facial expressions, and when we click through them, it's like watching them change in slow motion.

It's very easy to upload onto the computer, just plug the camera into the computer using the USB cable and you'll find the drive.

As part of Spy Gear, the camera is very silent. It's good if you try to sneak up on someone and take some funny pictures, however, we aren't quite sure whether a video or picture has been taken, and we wouldn't know until you check it on the computer (just like the good old days!) The only indication that it's running is the red LED light in the front, which is small and when the kids are wearing it, they wouldn't be able to check.

We took several test shots, with some pictures and video not captured, or something was captured that we didn't intend to. It's a little bit of a hit and miss until we use it more and find the pattern, but I think it's very much like a spy camera they use in the movies, you just have to spend some time to learn how to use it.

Positioning is another thing that require some testing. The camera feels a bit sensitive, so when the child wearing it is running, it can be very shaky (see above picture). We did manage to get some good calmer shots (unfortunately it's of something I can't show here!), so as a normal spy camera, it really does the trick. However it might need some tweaking to make it more stable for actions. I think better lighting might improve this, but it's a bit hard at the moment with the autumn/ winter days.

Overall I think the idea is brilliant, and it does what a spy camera should do - silent, quick shots, burst shots, videos and light weight. The attachments are very easy to use, and kids have a choice of attaching the camera on their head, bike and scooter etc, however we do think that it can do better with stabilising for better action shots, even for a £39.99 toy.

Gel-a-Peel 3D Design Station and Neon Kit

We've had lots of fun crafting with Gel-a-Peel's Deluxe Kit, and the lovely PR has kindly offered us their 3D Design Station and Neon Kit to review and help us with our creations! We really like the 3D Design Station, you can do so much more with it! Here is a quick review, and I'll be posting our new designs on social media, showing you what you can do with the fantastic Gel-a-Peel 3D Design Station!

Gel a Peel 3D Design Station, jewellery crafting, diy silicone jewellery

Gel a Peel 3D Design Station, jewellery crafting, diy silicone jewellery

The Gel-a-Peel Accessory Kit (approx. £14.99, suitable for 8 years+) comes with 3 tubes of silicone gel, 5 piping tips, a tool, earring findings and a pair of snap buttons. It also comes with designs and instruction sheet. The accessory kit comes in 2 versions - Neon that we were sent and Sparkle.

Gel a Peel 3D Design Station, jewellery crafting, diy silicone jewellery

The Gel-a-Peel 3D Design Station (RRP£29.99, Suitable for 8+) comes with:

- a 2 part design station, one for holding the silicone gels and piping tips, the other is the main design station that comes with 2 compartments where you can store the hardwares, tools and tips.
- 2 mobile phone case (iPhone 5 and 6) mould, which also acts as a flat surface for small 2D designs
-a cone mould
- 2 pencil top moulds
- 2 key ring attachments to turn the pencil tops to keyrings
- key ring loops
- earring hardware
- a tool
- 4 silicone gels
- 6 piping tips
- design patterns
- instruction leaflet

Gel a Peel 3D Design Station, jewellery crafting, diy silicone jewellery

And this is how the Gel-a-Peel 3D Design Station looks like, featuring items from the Gel-a-Peel Deluxe and Accessory Neon Sets as well!

The station is really easy to use, you can easily adjust the "arms" to hold the moulds in place, and with the colours lined up next to you, it makes it much easier for you to think of a design and what colours to use!

A tip though. There is a sealing cap inside the tube, which I normally chuck away for anything that has it. I would recommend keeping them for the Gel-a-Peel as it stops them from drying up inside the tube and forming into a massive lump that is very hard to dig out. And it's also silicone gel wasted.

Another tip is to try not to use one colour to complete a mobile phone case base like I did, as it took 2 tubes to completely cover the case I worked on at the thickness I did:

Gel a Peel 3D Design Station, jewellery crafting, diy silicone jewellery

I would recommend to either stick to the design patterns provided with the 3D station with the colours you like, or make sure that you either use different colours for the base and use a thin layer for it (it will also make your phone less bulky at the end).

I never featured the case on social media because I wasn't very happy with it, but I thought I should show it here anyway, because after all it is a completed design (Abby told me off for using all the yellow haha...). Look at how bright it is!

Also, if you have larger 2D designs you want to make, or want to make a lot of small designs in one go, you can get the Gel-a-Peel deluxe kit that comes with a plastic mat as big as the design pattern sheets, so you can do a lot more 2D work on there.

Gel a Peel 3D Design Station, jewellery crafting, diy silicone jewellery

Now how is this for a 3D design?!

This is my own design, but it shows you what you can do with Gel-a-Peel, and the 3D Design Station made it so much easier too!

I just piped the petals on the round cone, so that they dry with a curve. I also piped 2 tear drops for the middle of the flower, and stuck them together afterwards to form a 3D tear drop. I then stuck the petals around the tear drop layer by layer, using the silicone gel, and used half of the pencil topper mould (you can split them open) to keep the flower in shape while drying it.

It takes a bit of time and patience, but it looks really good! You can then use this for other craft projects, or turn it into a necklace/ brackelet! (Hm, there is a thought...)

I'm currently working on a bracelet as well using the Gel-a-Peel's pattern because I love all the dangly bits! You will see it soon on my social media! And I have another special design made too, which I love even more than the flower above! I can't wait to show it to you!

Oh, I think I almost forgot that this range is meant for kids haha, I'm having too much fun with it! Abby's been trying to make something too, but I think she prefer to do it together with me. SO that's what we are going to do in the weekend.

Derwent and Sheaffer Stationery

Although I love this festive season, planning and organising can be really stressful. To help, I was sent a lovely pen and notebook from Sheaffer to help me with my planning, and adult colouring book and colouring pencils from Derwent to help me destress.

Derwent, Sheaffer, Stationery

Derwent, Sheaffer, Stationery

I like Derwent's Unwind in the Wilds adult colouring book (£9.99, also come as a set with colouring pencils) because they have a section at the beginning that gives you pointers on some colouring basics. When the adult colouring book hype started, most of the pictures I saw on Instagram had each box filled in with a solid colour. It's easier of course (like what I did in the above picture), but the ones that really stood out on Instagram are the ones that has carefully selected colour choices with shading.

The paper quality is fantastic, and I like it that it's white instead of cream. The designs are a little bit more advanced though with lots of smaller details, but it's perfect for those who love the wildlife. It also come with designs where it encourage you to complete part of the details yourself.

The Coloursoft pencils look really professional, and like it's name, is softer than other colouring pencils, which makes colouring and shading much easier, and it's faster to achieve a more intense colour too. There are 72 colours in the range, which is a lot of colours!

Derwent, Sheaffer, Stationery

Derwent, Sheaffer, Stationery

I love the colour of my Sheaffer's pen, I think it's from their VFM (Vibrant, Fun and Modern) ball point pen range (approximately £9.40). The frosted teal colour can be spotted from far and even hubby had to come over and commented how nice it looks. I'm not normally a ball point pen person but I think it writes well.

The gunpowder metal colour notebook with a silver sheen on the edges are part of Sheaffer's Sentinel ball point pen gift sets (RRP £19.95), and it has a section for websites and blogs, making it a perfect gift for bloggers as well as those who love to browse the Internet. It is a pocket size so will fit snuggly in bags. I use it for my daily To Dos at the moment, but I might bring it with me to bloggers events so I can write down important email/ URL address.

Overall really glad to receive the above from Derwent and Sheaffer, they will certainly help me get through the end of 2016!

Real Construction - Safe D&T for Kids

Both our kids are quite interested in D&T, and they have been eager to help us build flat packed furniture since young, but for obvious reasons, we couldn't let them have a go. Recently though, we were contacted about JAKKS Pacific's Real Construction range, and realised that there is something safe (no splinters or crushed fingers!) out there for these young kids to practise their D&T skills, before they are old enough to "play" with the real things! It's proven very popular and it's a great opportunity for hubby to bond the kids too!

The Real Construction Deluxe Workshop (RRP £29.99, suitable for 6 years+) comes with:

1 Rip Saw
1 Large Hammer
1 Detail Saw
2 Hole Bore
1 Hole Bore Handle
1 Right Angle
50 Nails (2 lengths)
50 Screws (2 lengths)
4 Small Planks
3 Large Planks
2 Large Beams
5 Small Beams
4 Small Logs
1 Large Log
2 Hinges
1 Project book containing plans for 8 projects (materials are enough to complete 4 projects)

The Real Construction Starter Set (RRP £9.99, suitable for 6 years+)  comes with:

1 Small Hammer
1 Detail Saw
2 Large Planks
2 Small Planks
1 Large Log
4 Small Logs
40 Nails (2 lengths)
1 Project book containing plans for 6 projects (materials are enough to complete 3 projects)

I was skeptical before the sets have arrived, as I still wasn't sure about the materials used to make the tools and the building materials. But I can assure you that they are indeed very safe to use for young children. The planks are made of foam, and has a similar texture to Packing Peanuts, the nails are plastic with a blunt tip, and the sawing tools and hammer are plastic as well but without any sharp parts. However, if you do the sawing moves correctly, it shouldn't require much force and strength at all and you'll get a clean cut on the planks.

Of course, if someone decided to use the tools insensibly, it can still hurt people, but that applies to all other plastic toys as well.

To help us get started, we were also sent Beano's 1st October 2016 issue, which comes with a child friendly step by step assembly pictures for the Real Construction Speedboat plan. This is to be used together with the plan in the project book, and if you want to be precise, you will want to use the measurements as well that you can find on Real Construction's website.

Real Construction, building tools for kids, Christmas gift for budding builders

We wanted to minimise wastage, so we used the website's measurements to measure out each part of the Speedboat. A tip from us, avoid using markers as they don't dry quick enough!

You can let the kids do the measurements as well to practise their Mathematics. After we finished measuring the parts, the kids had a go at sawing. We found that, although the Precise Tool is better for short and corner sawing, the Saw is still the most efficient tool to saw through the building materials.

Once you have all the parts, children can follow the step by step picture instructions in the Beano's magazine to assemble the Speedboat.

We have impatient kids and Abby discovered that it's easier for her to push the nails through the building materials than hammering them in! It is easier to hammer onto a wider area than just the depth of the planks I guess.

Real Construction, building tools for kids, Christmas gift for budding builders

Both Abby and Clay had fun building with the Real Construction kit. After Abby completed the construction for the Speedboat, hubby and Clay made a plane using another one of the Real Construction project plan. Look at how happy Clay is!

Using Real Construction to build something is quite different from using our favourite LEGO bricks, as the kids are involved in drawing out the plans with measurements, cutting out the pieces and nailing/ screwing them together. I guess it's also because it's more like constructions in real life, and it gives them the sense of achievement that they can do what the adults do as well.

Overall we think that Real Construction is a very clever concept, and it's perfect for children who are into having a go at constructing something like how it is in real life. They will learn how a piece of furniture is made from scratch, learn how to follow instructions, and eventually learn how to make their own design and turn it into an actual thing from a drawing. And this is all done safely too, so no splinters nor saw dusts everywhere. We are also very happy with the quality of the tools and the building materials as well.

This will be the perfect gift that provides quality bonding time between the adults and children as well.

Accessorize - LoveLily Eau de Toilette Natural Spray

With the change of season, it's time to change my perfume as well. It's not so much of an excuse to buy a new perfume (it's not! Really!), but the cold season makes me want a fragrance that has a warmer note to it than the light and fresh ones for Spring and Summer. My ideal fragrance is something that has a musky tone as well, which is my favourite scent.

Accessorize has just released their new Eau de Toilette - LoveLily, and they have kindly sent me one for review. I was like a little girl opening the most beautiful present ever when I've received it, because it is so pretty!

Isn't it beautiful? It's pretty in pink, and the flower encased in the crystal-like cap is so charming! LovelLily comes in a generous size (75ml) for £19.00 only, with:

top note: Raspberry, Orange and Bergamot
heart note: Muguet (Lily of the Valley) and Jasmine
core note: Musk and Vanilla

So it's fruity and fresh at the beginning, which changes to a vibrant floral aroma, then ends with a sweet and warm scent.

I love everything about LoveLily, the mesmerising crystal-like bottle with the flower inside (I absolutely love taking these pictures!), the warming fragrance, and at an affordable price too. It'll certainly make a gorgeous Christmas present this year!

Portable North Pole Magic Pass - Why it's Worth Getting

$

Every year we try to look for new Christmas traditions to add to what we are doing already, to make Christmas extra special. After all, kids won't stay as kids forever, and we'd like to try to make their childhood as memorable as we can.

I was recently introduced to a service called Portable North Pole (PNP), where children can receive videos and calls from Santa. The quality of the videos, from props and actors to the resolution of the video itself is really impressive, and it brought a smile to me and hubby's faces. The more we explore their services (premium and the free ones too), the more we are impressed with them. So I was glad to have signed up for reviewing the PNP Magic Pass (that unlocks all their services), as it's definitely a service I'd like to use over and over again!

Make Christmas special, Portable North Pole, Message from Santa

Portable North Pole (PNP) offers 3 videos from Santa for free, including a greeting from Santa to children, one for the adults, and birthday wishes from Santa, which can be used on any day in the year (not just for those who have their birthday during Christmas time). Each of the videos can be personalised to certain extend, and the video quality, as pointed out above, is superb.

Make Christmas special, Portable North Pole, Message from Santa

Other free PNP services include the mobile app for iOS and Android (see more below), and the Santa's Village, with lots of activities, bed time stories etc for children to explore.

BUT. If you also want:

unlimited phone calls from Santa with plenty of fun scenario choices

- unlimited premium videos with plenty of video choices, which you can personalise further to make them even more realistic, and also come with Santa's verdict (whether the child is on Santa's naughty, nice or almost nice list)

- Reaction Recorder to record your child's reaction while watching the video

- HD downloads of all your videos (including the reaction recorded ones)

- Santa-Approved Certificate to print for each of your video

Story telling by Santa each week in December

then you should definitely consider buying PNP's Magic Pass, which is £9.99 (expires 1st October 2017 so you can use the services throughout the year), and I think it's really worth getting. Let me show you why:

Unlimited Phone Calls from Santa:

Make Christmas special, Portable North Pole, Message from Santa

There are a lot of scenarios to choose from for phone calls, and by putting in your phone number, Santa will actually ring you! Unlike recorded messages you hear from a call centre, Santa's phone calls are loud and clear (I tested this myself). Personally I would want to keep contact with Santa to the minimum to keep it special, but if it helps with good behaviour, an occasional call during the year might just do the trick. And I'm sure that the idea of me contacting Santa will keep them good for the other days!

Unlimited Premium Videos from Santa:

Example of a free video

Make Christmas special, Portable North Pole, Message from Santa
Example of a premium video

Make Christmas special, Portable North Pole, Message from Santa
Last 3 pictures are of the premium video. Do they look just a bit sharper?
To test the videos out, I created one for each child. The first one I did appeared to be the free version, and the second one was one of the premium ones. I actually didn't pay attention about whether it was free or premium (you get them all with the Magic Pass), but I did notice that the premium video took me longer to personalise. There was more things to include, even the gift Clay wants and a picture of our house. I especially like the Santa's verdict, and although it felt a bit harsh to show Clay that he's not on Santa's Nice list YET, I hope it serves as a motivation for him to get on with tidying up his toys!

Oh, and I should also mention about the name pronouncing! After you typed in a name, you can hear whether Santa pronounce it correctly. The list of name is impressive, so unless you have an extremely unique name like "@", Santa should be able to pronounce it. PNP service comes in different languages as well, I wonder if it covers names from those countries too in their language?

This might just be me, but I also noticed that the quality of the premium video seemed a bit sharper than the free video. I can't be sure about this though. The last 3 pictures above are from the premium video, what do you think?

I found that, from the kids' reactions, the longer video with more personalisation is definitely more convincing. Clay was still giddy at the beginning of the premium video, but later on he started responding to Santa's questions (yes/ no ones. They are very careful with their dialog)! Even Abby was convinced towards the end (she suspected that I did the videos at first haha).

Due to a very naughty Abby on the day I showed them the videos, I showed Clay his first, and Abby was a bit disappointed that Santa's message to her was comparatively short (he did say he had to take his reindeer out for a ride) and he never gave her his verdict (so I had to tell her that maybe he wasn't happy with what she did that day as well). You can tell that Abby was extremely uncomfortable when I played the video for her, just like a very naughty child would (eyes dashing everywhere, body turning towards me seeking for comfort, etc)! I hope she will be good from then on!

The kids will probably be disappointed when they found out that I had my hands on this. I hope they can understand that I'm just trying to make magic even more magical for them. I'm sure when I show this again to them years later, including their reactions to the videos, they will appreciate the preserved memories. And with the PNP's Magic Pass, recording their reactions can't be easier. You just need to download the free mobile app, and show the kids the video with it.

Free Mobile App and Reaction Recorder:

Make Christmas special, Portable North Pole, Message from Santa

Make Christmas special, Portable North Pole, Message from Santa
Make Christmas special, Portable North Pole, Message from Santa

The PNP mobile app has a Kids Corner, where kids can replay Santa's messages to them, and a Parents Corner, which allow you to do basically everything that you can on PNP's website. The Parents Corner can be accessed from the Kids Corner, but it can be password protected so that children won't be able to access it.

There are games for the kids to play as well in the Kids Corner, which will provide plenty of Christmas fun for them.

The Reaction Recorder is a new feature this year, and it allows you to record children's reaction when they watch Santa's message for the first time. It is done in the Parents Corner, so you kind of need to time it right (it stops recording when PNP's logo finished showing at the end) so that the kids won't see your dashboard!

The recorded reaction and video will be saved as a separate video in your My Creations folder, and you have a choice of showing this (and any other videos) to the children by making it visible in the Kids Corner (under Santa's Messages). You can also download each video in HD quality onto your device to keep.

I decided not to upload ours here as it recorded me telling Abby off (oops), but you can see the screen captures above. The quality is quite good, but I believe that it is also down to your front camera's resolution. Just make sure that it's bright enough (although don't face it directly at a light like I did) and the camera faces your child correctly.

Parents have an option to download a Santa-Approved Certificate, which says that your child has made it onto Santa's Nice List. Since both mine aren't yet, they'll have to wait.

Bedtime Story with Santa:

Make Christmas special, Portable North Pole, Message from Santa

Bedtime stories are available each week (each Saturday before Christmas Eve, because Santa is too busy on the 24th!) in December, which will hopefully help me sent the kids straight to bed (you don't want to keep Santa waiting!). I think it's a lovely additional feature.

As you can see, there is a lot more PNP provides on top of their free services, and I think the £9.99 is really worth it. Just the effort they put in their videos, with the beautiful props, CGI (the sparkles and how our uploaded pictures are tilted in an angle to fit in the film's book for example), cheeky elves and Santa, and the reinforcement you get to allow your child to stay as a child for a bit longer makes it money well spent.

I can't thank the PR enough for choosing us for the review, we are well impressed with all their services, and we will definitely use them again for as long as the kids will let us.

Know Cosmetics No Dark Shadows Complexion Enhancer

After much testing and trialing, I've more or less settled with a selection of makeup products that I'm happy with. There are a couple of things I never use though, such as under eye concealer or a proper foundation (I'm using liquid CC cushion), because I still can't find one that suits me.

I'm always open to trialing things though, so when I heard that one of the best selling makeup brand in Sephora - Know Cosmetics became available in the UK (Superdrug), and that they have a concealer in the range, I had to give it a try.

Know Cosmetics, No Dark Shadows, Concealer

Know Cosmetics, No Dark Shadows, Concealer

Know Cosmetics No Dark Shadows Complexion Enhancer (£15), according to the brand's information, is a

"silky, light and blendable complexion enhancer and a concealer that conceals imperfections. The light diffusing pigments in the formula softens the look of dark circles and highlights your best features for a contoured makeup look. The long-lasting, buildable moisturising formula can be applied alone or blended with foundation to perfect the complexion."

It provides medium coverage, is waterproof that lasts over 6 hours, and is free of mineral oils and parabens. It also comes in 2 tones - WOW with a rose undertone and PIZAZZ with a yellow undertone.

The last time I had to check my skin tone was a while ago, and I keep forgetting that I actually have a mix under tone (pink in some area and yellow in others). Without checking, I asked for PIZAZZ, and the colour blended straight into mine, which would have been perfect if I didn't need it to correct the bluish dark circles under my eyes. It works well to cover my scars and spots though.

The No Dark Shadows is really easy to use, just twist until products comes out from the lovely soft brush. It gives a nice control of how much product you use, and build up until you are happy with it. It appears liquid before blending, and looks matte after.

As it blended well with my skin tone, it couldn't give me a highlight effect that's obvious enough, I think the WOW would have been more suitable for me in this case, and covering my bluish dark circles too.

If you are interested in checking out Know Cosmetics as well, they are now available in Superdrug.

Note: As for all products used on your skin, it is recommended to do a patch allergy test before applying the products.

Nintendo 3DS Pokemon Sun and Pokemon Moon

There was one Christmas gift I recommended on my Christmas Gifts Guide that we haven't reviewed at that time, which is Nintendo's latest Pokemon game on their 3DS system - Pokemon Sun and Pokemon Moon. It was one of the highly anticipated game, and the fact that it's the one that is released on Pokemon's 20th anniversary year, with Pokemon Go bringing up the Pokemon hype, it's guaranteed to be the game high on many children (and adults) Christmas wishlist (the out of stock Nintendo 3DS handheld system and Pokemon Sun/ Pokemon Moon bundles on Nintendo's official UK online store says it all!).

After playing Nintendo 3DS Pokemon Sun (this review apply to both version of the game) for a couple of weeks, Pokemon Go made a lot more sense to us (we never played a Pokemon game before..)! There is this "you are physically in a Pokemon game" kind of feeling now. However, there are a lot of new features that you can only experience by playing Nintendo 3DS Pokemon Sun and/ or Pokemon Moon, which I think are brilliant additions to the game. Read on to find out more.

Nintendo 3DS Pokemon Sun and Pokemon Moon, Pokemon Christmas, #PokemonSunMoon

Nintendo 3DS Pokemon Sun and Pokemon Moon, Pokemon Christmas, #PokemonSunMoon

Nintendo 3DS Pokemon Sun and Pokemon Moon (RRP £39.99 each, pegi 7) games come with a matching pin if you buy the game from the official Nintendo UK store. Bundles are also available. We were given the code for Nintendo 3DS Pokemon Sun for this review.

Differences between Pokemon Sun and Pokemon Moon:

In-game Time - Pokemon Sun's in-game time is based on your Nintendo 3DS system's time, while in Pokemon Moon, the in-game time is shifted by 12 hours. So if you've set the time on your Nintendo 3DS system based on your real life clock, Pokemon Moon will appear mostly at night.

Pokemon -  Certain Pokemon will evolve into a different Pokemon in different version. For example, the main Pokemon in the game's story will either evolve into Solgaleo in Pokemon Sun or Lunala in Pokemon Moon (the ones on the covers).

Story:

Nintendo 3DS Pokemon Sun and Pokemon Moon, Pokemon Christmas, #PokemonSunMoon

Players start the game as one of the island's Pokemon Trainer (you can create your own character and change their look and outfit later in the game), who has just arrived at the Alola region. While following a series of trials and challenges, more is revealed about the mysterious Pokemon Nebby and its carer Lillie, who are part of the main story.

I think Pokemon series are definitely more about collecting different Pokemon (who are super adorable by the way!), training them up, and eventually getting your character the Pokemon Champion title. I am more of a story person, but although the Nintendo 3DS Pokemon Sun and Pokemon Moon story reveals a bit more slower than I'd prefer, it is mysterious and intriguing, and I can't wait to find out more.

Combats:

Nintendo 3DS Pokemon Sun and Pokemon Moon, Pokemon Christmas, #PokemonSunMoon

Nintendo 3DS Pokemon Sun and Pokemon Moon, Pokemon Christmas, #PokemonSunMoon

Combats occur either through exploring the map and go through wild Pokemon hiding places, such as tall grasses or in the water, or by challenges with other Pokemon Trainers.

Nintendo 3DS Pokemon Sun and Pokemon Moon, Pokemon Christmas, #PokemonSunMoon

Nintendo 3DS Pokemon Sun and Pokemon Moon, Pokemon Christmas, #PokemonSunMoon

Wild Pokemon: These are the Pokemon players can collect by throwing a Pokeball at them.

We love discovering new Pokemon, especially the really adorable and classic ones! I couldn't resist getting myself a Christmas Eevee after falling in love with it in the game!

Challenges: Players can't capture owned Pokemon through challenges, but you can learn through these challenges what their weaknesses are (it'll be registered) so you will be more prepared next time you see a wild one.

Nintendo 3DS Pokemon Sun and Pokemon Moon, Pokemon Christmas, #PokemonSunMoon

Trials: Trials and challenges replaces Pokemon Battle Gym in the previous versions of the game in Pokemon Sun and Pokemon Moon. Pokemon Trainers are to go through a series oftrials (challenges by the Pokemon Captains) on the Alola region, and after completing them as well as defeating the 4 island governors, they will be crowned Alola's Pokemon Champion.

Combats are fairly straight forward if you have been levelling your Pokemon up, raise their Affection to the maximum (see below) and have the correct Pokemon type in your combat team (you are only allowed to keep 6 in your team, so choose wisely).

Nintendo 3DS Pokemon Sun and Pokemon Moon, Pokemon Christmas, #PokemonSunMoon

Suppliments and Teaching: There are things in the game you can use to raise your Pokemon ability. For example the Z-crystals you get after defeating a Pokemon Captain (new to Pokemon Sun and Pokemon Moon) can be used on all compatible Pokemon in your combat team, and can give your Pokemon a special attack skill - the Z-moves, which connects your character and Pokemon's power together to make your Pokemon extra powerful. it can be used once per combat however.

Other items includes berries and potions that gives Pokemon a temporary boost, skills Pokemon can learn (although they each have a maximum of 4 skills, so you'll need to decide what they are), funfair games which boost base statistics permanently (more below), etc.

Nintendo 3DS Pokemon Sun and Pokemon Moon, Pokemon Christmas, #PokemonSunMoon

Defeated: It's not as painful as it seems to fail a challenge or trial. (it's certainly heart breaking though, especially when you can't run away from a trial!) You will appear in the nearest Pokemon Center (more below) where all your Pokemon will be rested completely, so you can head straight back out to train more (or change the Pokemon combination in my case) before you try again.

Nintendo 3DS Pokemon Sun and Pokemon Moon, Pokemon Christmas, #PokemonSunMoon

Battle Royal: Another new feature in Nintendo 3DS Pokemon Sun and Pokemon Moon, it lets your character play against 3 individual opponents in an arena, and the battle ends when one player has all 3 of their Pokemon defeated.

Nintendo 3DS Pokemon Sun and Pokemon Moon, Pokemon Christmas, #PokemonSunMoon

Pokemon levelling and evolving: After a Pokemon has been defeated in combat, experience points will be given to your Pokemon. Some of them level up on the spot, and some might want to learn a new skill after levelling. They sometimes evolve too, if levelling to a certain level is the requirement to evolve.

According to a tip in the game, there is a way to stop your Pokemon from evolving. It might sound silly to want to stop them from growing up, but I wish I have learned about this right at the beginning, because my favourite Hoot Hoot, who I've put a lot of effort into making it the strongest Pokemon I have (unfortunately still very weak against fire), has turned from the cutest chubby owl into a vein one who likes to flick his fringe. Why?!

Another option is to collect 2 to 3 of the same Pokemon and evolve the 2 so you have the full collection. This game can last forever if you choose to hehe.

Relationship with a Pokemon:

Nintendo 3DS Pokemon Sun and Pokemon Moon, Pokemon Christmas, #PokemonSunMoon

Pokemon are a companion, not just a combat tool, which is a message more obviously shown in Nintendo 3DS Pokemon Sun and Pokemon Moon. Not only do they live amongst human in the Alola region, they sometimes take care of things too, like Rotom, who lives in your Pokedex (see below). So you are given the Refresh section to raise it's affection (which also increases their combat ability), feed them until they are full, and groom them to make them happy.

Pokemon eat Poke Beans, which at the moment in our game is rare and we can only get 12 beans a day (more below). I hope that there will be more available later on as this is the only one I'm struggling with (can't bear the thought of my Pokemon going hungry!)

To raise Pokemon's Enjoyment, simply stroke their head (or other parts depending on the Pokemon), and groom them as soon as the option appears after a combat.

Rotom Pokedex:

Nintendo 3DS Pokemon Sun and Pokemon Moon, Pokemon Christmas, #PokemonSunMoon

Nintendo 3DS Pokemon Sun and Pokemon Moon, Pokemon Christmas, #PokemonSunMoon

Rotom Pokedex index the Pokemon you've collected, as well as information of wild Pokemon that hasn't been collected yet, gathered during combats. It also shows you the map, and give you advice and reminder where you need to go next.

Nintendo 3DS Pokemon Sun and Pokemon Moon, Pokemon Christmas, #PokemonSunMoon

Nintendo 3DS Pokemon Sun and Pokemon Moon, Pokemon Christmas, #PokemonSunMoon

To physically access your Pokemon collection, you will need to visit the Pokemon Center (see below), or you can access it through the Pokemon Nursery (where you can rest 2 of your Pokemon for a chance to collect a Pokemon egg from them) as well.

Pokemon Center:

Nintendo 3DS Pokemon Sun and Pokemon Moon, Pokemon Christmas, #PokemonSunMoon

Pokemon Center is the place to visit when you need your Pokemon to rest fully (with all debuffs from combats removed), access your Pokemon stored away, buy items for combat use, as well as enjoy a special drink at the Cafe, which might give you a special item, and 12 Poke Beans once a day.

Players should also talk to people in the Pokemon Center (and outside), as you can gather some very useful tips, or sometimes a side quest too.

Poke Ride:

Nintendo 3DS Pokemon Sun and Pokemon Moon, Pokemon Christmas, #PokemonSunMoon

This is another feature which shows the close bond between human and Pokemon in the Alola region. Players can ride specific Pokemon to help them reach areas they can otherwise not. The Stoutland Search can even help you find special items that are burried underground!

Menu:

Apart from Poke Ride that you access through the Y button on your Nintendo 3DS family handheld console, the rest of the features can be found in the menu:

Nintendo 3DS Pokemon Sun and Pokemon Moon, Pokemon Christmas, #PokemonSunMoon

Nintendo 3DS Pokemon Sun and Pokemon Moon, Pokemon Christmas, #PokemonSunMoon

Pokemon - Access your Pokemon Combat team's details, swap them around to arrange their combat appearance order, and swap items they hold that can be used in combat.

Nintendo 3DS Pokemon Sun and Pokemon Moon, Pokemon Christmas, #PokemonSunMoon

Bag - where you can find all the items you've gathered, including items you can wear.

Nintendo 3DS Pokemon Sun and Pokemon Moon, Pokemon Christmas, #PokemonSunMoon

Trainer Passport - shows your achievement so far

QR Scanner - allows you to scan QR codes found on the Internet that register certain information about the Pokemon into your Pokedex.

Nintendo 3DS Pokemon Sun and Pokemon Moon, Pokemon Christmas, #PokemonSunMoon

Festival Plaza - is like a mini game in Nintendo 3DS Pokemon Sun and Pokemon Moon. Players can meet other real life players in here, or play single player by talking to the non-playing characters to help them and earn Festival Coins, which can be used in the Festival Plaza stalls.

Stalls can be changed during Festival Plaza upgrades. There are ones to increase your Pokemon's base statistics, clothing vendor, lucky draw that gives you special items, etc.

Pokemon Finder:

I haven't use this feature yet, maybe because when it was introduced in the game Abby was playing so I missed it completely. (She did mention something about taking in-game pictures). Basically it is a feature loaded into Rotom Pokedex, and when used in certain spots in Alola region, you can snap pictures of Pokemon. The pictures you take will be evaluated, and as you take better pictures, more features such as the ability to zoom will be unlocked.

Overall:

We are currently stuck because our team wasn't correctly built to go against the Pokemon in the next trial (we like to keep our favourites in the team). My poor team was completely defeated by the totem Pokemon (I wasn't allowed to run away a the trial), which was very sad to go through, and I can really feel that defeated feeling, even though they were recovered completely after.

I'm now building up a new team just for the next trial, and hope that eventually I can either get my original team back or I will find a new team that has a better combination (a team full of evolved Eevee!).

I like it that there is plenty to do in the game, so if you are tired from levelling or collecting Pokemon, you can play mini games, hatching eggs, and even earn money to equip yourself with pretty accessories! The quests (trials) and story does make me want to keep going as well, I want to see what this mysterious Nebby is about, and if I can collect one that will be even better!

Thanks to inspirations from Gel-a-Peel, we've been doing a lot of crafting lately. We love how vibrant the colours are, and the gels are really easy to use too. They even smell nice after they've dried up completely! We've made a lot of accessories already using their Deluxe Kit and 3D Design Station (both will make an amazing Christmas gift!), and this time we've participated in their #CraftyChristmas fun to make something festive!

We were sent the really pretty Gel-a-Peel Sparkle Kit (RRP £14.99) that comes with 3 sparkly Gel-a-Peel gels, accessories and design templates, a blank stocking and Christmas baubles to decorate.

The Gel-a-Peel Sparkle Kit contains one of my favourite colour - Sparkle Light Pink. It's very similar to the Sparkle Crystal Clear, but with a touch of pink. I'll be more than happy to buy a whole range of Gel-a-Peel Sparkle colours if they do them in blue, green, purple etc too!

Like all Gel-a-Peel's kits, their accessories for decorating are really good quality, Abby's favourite so far is their hair clips, which she uses every day to clip her fringe up.

And here are our Gel-a-Peel #CraftyChristmas decorations:

I covered the stocking bauble with white paper so the colours stand out a bit more
I actually wanted to use their equally pretty Sparkle green, neon yellow and gold for these, but we ran out! Luckily the Sparkle Crystal Clear works really well with other base colours, so we coloured the leaves with a green marker pen, and used the Gel-a-Peel Sparkle Crystal Clear on top. It's not as 3D but it somehow made the other bits on the stocking stand out!

We even used the Sparkle Crystal Clear on top of a black pen that says Ho Ho Ho on the stocking bauble, which gives it another effect!

We are very happy with our creations! It's the first time we used Gel-a-Peel on papers and fabrics and they work just as well! We just hope that Gel-a-Peel can release more colours so that we can create even more designs! Perhaps releasing them as themed packs like Halloween or Christmas, or even Mermaid! We'll definitely be collecting them all if they do!

Num Noms Christmas Advent Calendar

Out of all the blind pack toys we've reviewed this year, Num Noms is the kids favourite, which isn't a surprise because they smell incredibly yummy, and look super cute too!

We were really excited when we were chosen to be one of the blogger family receiving the amazing Num Noms Christmas Advent Box, which comes with 24 Num Noms related gifts for the kids to open daily this December. My greedy kids has chosen the largest gifts to start their advent, but who can resist when you know that there are cute Num Noms in them, waiting to be added to our collection?

Day 1: The kids found the Num Noms Series 2 Brunch Deluxe Pack! They were so quick with it and added the Num Noms straight to our collection, I wasn't quite sure which Num Noms came from this pack. Thank goodness for the collection sheet! I spotted however, the super adorable Becca Bacon, which is shaped like a little piggy. She reminds me of Pigs in Blankets! The Sunny omelette that comes in this pack as well is also super cute!

Day 2: This is our favourite Num Noms range so far (I had a peek at Num Noms series 3 however, and I bet the kids will have a new favourite soon!) - The Series 2 Num Noms Jelly Beans Deluxe Pack! It comes with jelly bean shaped Num and Noms in the transparent colour of the rainbow (almost!) and we love them all! We got a special one - B.L.T from the blind box included in the Deluxe pack to add to our Diner Food collection too! It's not the ultra rare diamond edition Mr and Mrs Icing, but it's still a special one and it's sleepy expression made us laugh!

Day 3: This is my favourite, the Num Noms Series 2 Fair Food Starter Pack! The popcorn Papa Corn stood right out from the whole Num Noms collection, and it smells incredibly delicious (I've bought a few bags of pop corns since...)! The Cara Mellie (Toffee Apple?) and Pinky Puffs Nums in this pack are super cute too!

Day 4: The kids have opened the last Num Noms pack in our Num Noms Christmas Advent Box (there are lots of other goodies and Num Noms gloss/ stamps blind boxes too) - Num Noms series 2 Diner Food Starter Pack, which means our Diner Food collection is almost complete (we just need C.H.Z, which I assume is Cheese sandwich/ toast?)!

And here is our collection so far, with possibly a Num and a Nom from series 1 gone hiding somewhere in the house!

They look fantastic together, and this particular corner in the living room smells really sweet! The kids love to set all the Go-Go Noms running, which makes a lot of noise! But that's not going to stop us from wanting to continue collecting them, especially after seeing what's to come in series 3!

Abby has asked for the Num Noms Lip Gloss Truck for Christmas, and I'm ready to get the whole series 3 as well, now we just need to find a bigger space to display them all!
